As our nation approaches the anniversary of the Roe-v-Wade decision this weekend, churches across the nation will celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday—remembering the 60,000,000-plus lives that have been been aborted in the womb.

One pastor shared, “If the unborn is not a human person, no justification for abortion is necessary. But if the unborn is a human person, then no justification for abortion is adequate.”

This impactful quote provokes questions every single person must answer. What is in the womb? Who gets to determine whether what is in the womb is a human life or not? God or man?

We know what God says. From the Creation accounts in Genesis 1 & 2 to Psalm 139:13-18 to Jeremiah 1:5 to Luke 1:41-44, Scripture clearly teaches that within the womb is a living soul.

So, we are left with the question, “Do I believe the Word of God or not?" It’s the same question faced by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3. Will I trust what God has said—or will I trust myself to make the right choice? To this day, the world continues to feel the effects of their choosing to abandon God's Word for the voice of Satan.

However, the beauty of our God is that He did not leave them (or us) without hope. In Genesis 3:15, God provided hope in the promise of an unborn Child to come one day to crush the head of Satan. An unborn Child.

Think of that. Jesus came to earth as an unborn child in the womb. Wow. No wonder Satan wants us to dismiss and discard unborn children—it's the very form his enemy, but the Savior of the world, came to offer salvation to all who believe.

So may our prayers this weekend be for the Gospel to bring healing to hurting hearts to be healed, to bring truth to contemplating minds to find the truth, and to bring encouragement to weary souls. Jesus values life so much that He laid down His own, so we could possess abundant life today and eternal life forever.
